On a daily basis flange heaters are proven in various process installations. To maintain a long durability, efficient heating of the medium and low maintenance costs of the heaters they are matched perfectely to the application they will be used for.

When dimensioning heating elements, particular attention is paid to finding the best compromise between technical feasability, quality and economical aspects.

The difficulty of manufacturing a flange heater is to consider its capacity and its surface load to avoid overheating the medium or the heater. If the dimensioning is not sufficiently considered, problems with the medium or the break down of the heating element have to be expected.

However, the max. surface load (W/cm²) can differ extremely with little pocess changes.

Compared to the heating of gas a higher surface load can be chosen if there is a higher heat transfer to the medium. To avoid scaling or burns the surface load has to be reduced most of the time considering the customer‘s request.

Therefore, flange heaters have to suit customers‘ application - in size, shape , performance, chemical and thermal resistance, controls and protective systems. The choice of appropriate sheath material ensures reliable function and the safety of the installed equipment. To ensure all of this, it requires expert knowledge.
